HBO has revealed more cast members for its upcoming original Harry Potter series, with John Lithgow, Janet McTeer and Paapa Essiedu among those named to iconic roles.
Lithgow will star as Albus Dumbledore, McTeer will play Minerva McGonagall, and Essiedu will appear as Severus Snape. Also, Nick Frost has been cast as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
The upcoming series is said to be a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter book series by author J.K. Rowling. It is being written and showrun by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod is directing multiple episodes of the series for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV; David Heyman of Heyday Films; Mylod and Gardiner.
