STUDIO CITY: Hallmark Channel has renewed its original series Good Witch for a third season.

Production on 12 episodes for season three is scheduled to begin this August in Toronto. The show’s new run has been slated for a 2017 premiere, though an all-new Halloween special will air in October 2016. Based on a network original movie franchise, the series follows a mother-daughter duo in the quaint fictional town of Middleton.

This is the second original-series pickup for Hallmark Channel in recent months, having also confirmed a fourth season for its frontier drama When Calls the Heart. Its latest new drama, Chesapeake Shores, is due out August 14.

“Fans are enchanted by the magical adventures of Cassie, Sam and Grace, charming characters who have inspired our viewers to believe in the magic that can be found in our everyday lives,” said Michelle Vicary, the executive VP of programming and network publicity at Crown Media Family Networks. “We’re excited to see the captivating adventure continue with a third season. Our original series have performed outstandingly well on a very competitive night, and we will continue to bring quality entertainment to Sundays with the August debut of our newest series Chesapeake Shores.”
