GMA Worldwide has inked a deal that will see a number of Filipino dramas become available in Latin America via Latin Media Corp. (LMC).

Among the titles chosen by LMC to be dubbed in Spanish are GMA’s top-rated series The Heart Knows, The Way to Your Heart and Stay With Me. Also part of the pact are Second Chances, Someone to Watch Over Me, Legally Blind and Ika-6 Na Utos.

GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon “We’re very lucky that we have partnered with Latin Media Corporation. They are the number one distributor of foreign content. Our revenues from our association with them are consistently growing, and I think the reason is that Mr. Escalante is a very good manager.”

LMC President and CEO Jose Escalante said: “When I started thinking of bringing [programs from] a country from Asia, I thought of bringing the Filipino dramas because we look the same, our families, our values are very similar in terms of culture and [in] the way we educate ourselves. So we started bringing Filipino dramas and they are well-accepted so far.

“Actually in Peru and Ecuador, the ratings are really, really good. We are very happy, and that’s what helps us to spread the word of Filipino dramas in the region. As a matter of fact, we just started with Someone to Watch Over Me [in Uruguay], and the ratings are really good.”
