GMA Assembles Star Talent for New Dramas

Jak Roberto (Meant to Be) and Glaiza de Castro (Encantadia) are starring in GMA’s upcoming revenge drama Contessa.

Roberto is set to be the lead actor in Contessa and love interest of de Castro, who is in the titular role. The drama will premiere on March 19, replacing A Woman Scorned in its afternoon prime-time slot.

Roberto commented: “Most of the scenes I did were action-packed fight scenes because I am the Contessa’s protector [Glaiza]. Luckily, I have a background in martial arts, which helps a lot.”

Additionally, Ken Chan (Meant to Be) is set for GMA’s upcoming series The Cure. Chan will be playing a doctor who will help in humanity’s survival in a post-apocalyptic milieu while protecting his girlfriend, to be played by newcomer Arra San Agustin. San Agustin was among the finalists of GMA’s reality talent search Starstruck in 2015. The drama is set to air in Q2 on GMA.

Asia’s pop sweetheart Julie Anne San Jose (Envy) is set to return to acting in the upcoming musical romantic-comedy series My Guitar Princess. She started filming for the series in late February.
