After participating in a series of virtual markets and festivals over the last few months, Global Screen has inked deals on a range of drama titles on its slate, including the eight-part Turbulent Skies.

“We are truly delighted that, thanks to the huge efforts made by the production companies, our new programs were completed on time and are now ready for delivery,” said Alexandra Heidrich, head of acquisitions and international TV sales.  “Our titles, such as Turbulent Skies and our gloomy miniseries Dark Woods, are being particularly well received by buyers. We have already been able to sell Turbulent Skies to the U.S. and Slovenia. Exciting and high-quality material will always prevail.”

Modern Murder, an 11-part movie collection, has been sold recently to Spain (ETB), the U.S. (Global Series Network), France and Asia (including China). A Good Year and Streets of Berlin have also been sold to platforms in the U.S.

Finest Fairy Tales, which now has 51 episodes available, has been licensed to France, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, China, Slovakia and the Baltic states this year.

“Of course, it’s a terrible pity that we could not meet our long-standing customers and friends in person this year,” Heidrich continued. “Nonetheless, virtual events have their advantages: We were able to connect with some interesting people this year who might not otherwise have traveled to the physical market. Also, we noticed that many of our customers had more time to chat and were not in as much of a hurry as they would be in Cannes. Still, a digital market lacks the nuance, the casual chats and simply the feeling of a large sociable get-together. We are very much hoping that next year we will be back together again and able to enjoy all of this once more.”
