Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale Sets Ratings High

Sunday’s season seven finale of Game of Thrones broke HBO ratings records with its extended 80-minute episode “The Dragon and the Wolf.”

A total of 12.1 million viewers tuned in for the 9 p.m. airing, up 13 percent from the previous record set two weeks prior and 36 percent higher than the season six finale, which had 8.9 million viewers. With views on HBO Go and the stand-alone HBO Now app included, the episode had 16.5 million viewers.

HBO said that each episode of the current season is averaging more than 30 million viewers across platforms, up by nearly 8 million viewers compared to the end of last season.

Also, HBO has now released The Game Revealed, a new post-season, behind-the-scenes series available exclusively on HBO Now, HBO Go, HBO On Demand and affiliate portals. The seven-part show features exclusive interviews with cast and crew that provide new info and insights on how some of the biggest moments from the latest season of the HBO hit came together.
