MONTREAL: The U.S. dramas Frequency and Lethal Weapon have been acquired by Quebecor Content, furthering its ongoing relationship with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Lethal Weapon reboots the hit movie franchise, as it follows the classic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh, who are working a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles. Damon Wayans (My Wife and Kids, In Living Color) stars as Roger Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford (Rectify) as Martin Rigg in the series.

Frequency is a mystery drama based on the New Line film. The story follows as NYPD Officer Frank Sullivan leaves his daughter, Raimy, and his wife, Julie, to go deep undercover, where he falls into corruption and gets himself killed. Now, 20 years later, Raimy, a police officer herself, is stunned when a voice suddenly crackles through her father’s old ham radio—it’s Frank, transmitting over the airwaves across the decades.

“We’re always looking for the very best new programming for our viewers,” commented Yann Paquet, the VP of acquisitions and partnerships at Quebecor Content. “Warner has set new standards of excellence once again and we’re very excited to be bringing these two new series to viewers in Québec.”
