France tv distribution has sold the Flemish psychological thriller Two Summers to France’s Canal+, where it will debut on June 27.

Produced by Panenka, the series follows a group of friends in their 20s who come together to spend one last fun holiday together before adulthood, only for one of them to die in an accident. Thirty years later, the same group reconvenes on a private island and a video from that tragic summer is revealed.

Two Summers was selected at Series Mania 2022 and saw success on Belgium’s VRT last winter. Beginning June 27, the series will air on Canal+’s linear channel and its on-demand channel, myCANAL. Netflix will broadcast the series outside of French-speaking Europe.

The series’ directors are Brecht Vanhoenacker and Tom Lenaerts. Lenaerts penned the script with Paul Baeten. The cast includes Koen De Bouw, Kevin Janssens, Ruth Becquart, Inge Paulussen, Herwig Ilegems, An Miller, Sanne-Samina Hanssen, Tom Vermeir, Tijmen Govaerts, Tine Roggeman, Felix Meyer, Lukas Bulteel, Vincent Van Sande, Louise Berger, Marieke Anthoni and Bjarne Devolder.

“We are proud to announce the release of this Flemish series on Canal+, which proves the quality and originality of the show—a real gem from a great upcoming producer,” said Julia Schulte, senior VP of international sales at France tv distribution. “We believe strongly in the success for French audiences due to its intelligent and entertaining approach of this very sensitive subject, and we are happy to have Canal+ as French partner on board.”

Jean-Marc Juramie, senior executive VP of pay-TV content at Canal+ Group, added, “We’re very happy to offer Canal+’s subscribers the Flemish series Two Summers, as they’re always keen to discover the best shows across all territories, complete with new faces and talents. The series’ theme questions each and every one of us on our share of responsibility, a topic that, unfortunately, is still very much a part of today’s society.”
