Finnish Thriller Conflict Lands Deals in 30 New Territories

The Finnish thriller Conflict, produced by Backman & Hoderoff and XYZ Films for MTV Finland, has been sold in 30 new territories around the world.

Deals have been inked with CANAL+ in Benelux, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia; Lionsgate Play in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka; BETV in Belgium; ERR in Estonia; Free TV in Israel; and more.

Additionally, the six-part series has sold to ITV Uzbekistan, Intra Communications in Georgia, LRT in Lithuania, Now TV in Hong Kong, TV4 in Sweden and TV Moldova 1 in Moldova. Plus, a pan-regional deal was signed across the CIS, including in Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Conflict explores the possibility of a proxy war breaking out in Europe. It is co-created and produced by Andrei Alén and Aku Louhimies (Unknown Soldier, Rebellion, Inheritance), the letter of whom also directs the series. The cast features Peter Franzén (Vikings, The Gunman, Purge), Dylan Smith (Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Mazerunner: The Death Cure), Nadia Forde (Once Upon a Time in London), Sara Soulié (The Man Who Died) and Larry Lamb (Eastenders, Superman).

The thriller won best drama series and best director at the 2024 Golden Venla Awards. In France, it ranked as the number one most-watched TV show on the CANAL+ catch-up service when it premiered earlier this year.

“Clients around the globe continue to respond to Conflict’s ripped-from-the-headlines plot, its English-dominant script and fantastic international cast, its thrilling action sequences and strong, relatable female lead characters, as well as its faceless ‘enemy,’ who remains unknown throughout,” said Kelly Wright, managing director of distribution at Keshet International, which handles global distribution for the show. “Conflict has everything buyers and viewers are looking for right now.”
