Filming has begun on a third season of the crime drama Beyond Paradise, co-commissioned by the BBC and BritBox International.

In the upcoming season, plenty of new cases pop up to keep the detectives occupied, including a body found in the river on the county border, a chocolate box poisoning, a historic farming feud and a spiking incident on the water. Outside of work, their personal relationships are put to the test.

DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd must overcome unexpected hurdles as foster parents and deal with the reappearance of Martha’s old flame. DS Esther Williams, meanwhile, navigates a surprise encounter in her private life, a heart scare stirs up painful memories for Anne Lloyd, and PC Kelby Hartford embarks on a journey of personal growth.

The third season will see the return of Kris Marshall, Sally Bretton, Zahra Ahmadi, Dylan Llewellyn, Barbara Flynn, Felicity Montagu, Jade Harrison, Melina Sinadinou and Jamie Bamber.

Season three of Beyond Paradise will premiere on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and BritBox International.

The series was created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan and is produced by Red Planet Pictures, part of the Asacha Media Group, which was recently acquired by Fremantle.

“We are delighted to be back in the beautiful South West, filming what promises to be our strongest series yet, packed full of mysteries, surprises, challenges and lots of heart,” said Tim Key, executive producer at Red Planet Pictures. “We love making the show, and the audience response to it is fantastic. It’s especially exciting to welcome back Jamie Bamber to Shipton Abbott. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve been up to.”
