PARIS: Federation Entertainment and Finnish producer Fisher King Production have joined forces for the new Scandinavian crime series Bordertown, commissioned by YLE.

The series, directed by Miikko Oikkonen, is currently in production. The show’s premise combines Nordic noir police procedural and intense family drama. It centers on Chief Investigator Kari Sorjonen, his recovering wife and teenage daughter who move to a small town to enjoy a more peaceful life. However, the idyllic existence they had hoped for is far from the reality of this border town between Finland and Russia.

The 11×52-minute series will be presented for buyers at MIPTV by Federation. Bordertown is one of the series selected to take part in the inaugural MIPDrama Screenings.

Pascal Breton, CEO of Federation Entertainment, said: “Bordertown is a haunting suspense-filled drama that will take viewers to the edge of their seats. With the crime genre high in demand worldwide, we know that Bordertown has all the key elements to capture a global audience. We are thrilled to be teaming up with Fisher King again which is testament to our strong partnership and shared production values.”

Matti Halonen, CEO of Fisher King Production, added: “Bordertown’s compelling characters and gripping plotlines combine the dark elements of Nordic noir with warm family drama, culminating in a unique crime procedural. We are thrilled to be partnering up with Federation again, and are confident this series will be a gem for broadcaster schedules.”
