Eccho Rights has signed an agreement with Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) Sweden to represent the Swedish series Love Me internationally.

Written and directed by Josephine Bornebusch, who also stars in the main role, the six-part series explores experiences of love, friendship and grief across three different generations. It follows Clara (Bornebusch), a respectable doctor who struggles to find the right person; her father, who unexpectedly rediscovers passion in his life; and her hopelessly love-struck younger brother.

Love Me bowed on NENT Group’s streaming service Viaplay on October 11, and was renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere. In addition to Bornebusch, the series stars Sverrir Gudnason and Gustav Lindh.

Nicola Söderlund, managing partner at Eccho Rights, said: “We see a lot of interest in Nordic drama that moves away from the established Noir fare and focuses on authentic stories featuring relatable characters that everybody can identify with. Josephine Bornebusch is a unique and incredibly talented creator and presents us with a dramedy that explores the human condition in depth while never losing its humor. We are proud to bring this extraordinary production to audiences worldwide and to continue our fruitful partnership with Warner Bros.”

Johan Hedman, head of drama at WBITVP Sweden, said: “I am very happy to partner with Eccho Rights on the distribution of Love Me and look forward to the show reaching audiences across the globe. This warm and humorous series offers true-to-life characters that lend themselves to a feeling that this story is taking place here and now. We see great potential for it to travel very well.”
