Eccho Rights has signed deals with Sweden’s TV4 and Finland’s MTV3 for a package of Korean dramas that includes the action thriller Taxi Driver.

Produced by SBS, Taxi Driver centers on a mysterious taxi service that takes revenge on behalf of victims who are unable to get justice from the law. The series launched last year with 16 hour-long episodes.

Also included in the deal are CJ ENM’s Trap and Strangers from Hell. Trap sees a renowned news reporter trapped in a gruesome hunting game that kills his son, forcing him to seek revenge. Strangers from Hell follows a penniless intern who moves into a cheap dormitory, only to discover its residents are psychopathic killers.

These deals make TV4 and MTV3 the first local broadcasters in their respective countries to acquire South Korean content.

“Eccho Rights has long been championing the extraordinary creativity and quality in the Korean drama industry, so it is no surprise to us that demand for these series is taking off around the world,” said Lucy Roberts, director of sales for Western Europe at Eccho Rights.

Fredrik af Malmborg, managing director at Eccho Rights, added, “With a strong presence in Seoul and close relationships with every media and broadcast group in South Korea, Eccho Rights is in a unique position to provide Korean content to broadcasters and VOD platforms worldwide looking to acquire the best K-dramas for their markets.”
