Eccho Rights has picked up the distribution rights for the upcoming BBC One drama Granite Harbour, set to launch for international sales later this year.

Produced by LA Productions in association with Eccho Rights and Dopamine, the series centers on a soldier used to working in the Caribbean who dreams of being a detective for New Scotland Yard. When he is instead sent to train in Aberdeen, he partners with a streetwise DCI used to flying solo. Romario Simpson and Hannah Donaldson star in the lead roles.

The series is produced for BBC One, BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer.

“This fish-out-of-water story spoke to us as perfect for the international market,” said Adam Barth, director of co-productions, acquisitions and development at Eccho Rights. “It provides a unique insight into the U.K. from an outsider’s perspective, as Lindo has to navigate the complex world of British police work—something he thought would feel familiar but ultimately wasn’t at all what he was expecting.”

“As an international company with a different perspective ourselves, Lindo’s story resonated with us, and we are delighted to partner with Eccho Rights, the fantastic team at LA Productions and, of course, the BBC on bringing this exciting new series to viewers all over the world,” said Fidela Navarro, CEO of Dopamine.
