AMC Networks’ Shudder streaming service has greenlit a new Creepshow TV series, with The Walking Dead’s Greg Nicotero attached to direct, executive produce and supervise the show’s creative elements.

The original Creepshow was an iconic anthology film that featured stories written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero. It spawned two sequel films and a spin-off comic.

Each episode of the anthology series will tell original stories and will be led by a different director. Nicotero will direct the first episode and his KNB EFX Group company will be handling the creature and make-up effects.

Shudder’s Creepshow will be produced by the Cartel with Monster Agency Productions, Taurus Entertainment and Striker Entertainment.

Nicotero has been producing director on The Walking Dead, and to date has directed more than 25 episodes of the hit AMC series.

Creepshow is one of the most beloved and iconic horror anthologies from two masters of the genre, George A. Romero and Stephen King,” said Shudder’s general manager, Craig Engler. “We’re thrilled to continue their legacy with another master of horror, Greg Nicotero, as we bring a new Creepshow TV series exclusively to Shudder members.”

Nicotero added, “Creepshow is a project very close to my heartIt is one of those titles that embraces the true spirit of horror…thrills and chills celebrated in one of its truest art formsthe comic book come to lifeIm honored to continue the tradition in the ‘spirit’ in which it was created.

His experience and leadership will ensure that the series is of the highest quality and will help to excite horror fans around the world.”
