LOS ANGELES: Joel and Ethan Coen are working with Annapurna Television on The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, a Western anthology series.

The Coen brothers wrote the script and will direct and produce the project, which marks their first for TV, through their Mike Zoss Productions banner. Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle, Annapurna’s president of television, will serve as executive producers.

“We are very excited to be working with Megan and Sue on this project,” Joel and Ethan Coen said in a statement.

The brothers have worked in the Western genre before for the big screen, with No Country for Old Men and the True Grit remake. While their movie Fargo was done as a series for FX, this new project will mark the first they’ve created for TV.
