Christian Wikander Becomes SVT Drama Commissioner

STOCKHOLM: Christian Wikander has been elevated at SVT to the post of commissioner for drama.

Wikander, who has been with SVT since 2005 and currently serves as the head of drama, will also join the company’s commissioning board. “My main focus as a commissioner will be to find the best and most relevant stories for the Swedish TV audience,” he commented.

“One of the most important issues at the moment is the proposed changes to the Swedish government’s proposal for Swedish film, which is expected to come into power in 2017,” he continued. “We expect SVT to get an even more central role and I look forward to be part of that development.”

Lena Glaser, director of programs, added, “I am very pleased with Christian Wikander as our new commissioner for drama. He has the necessary experience in scripted development and a vast international network, as well as knowledge and understanding of strategic work in the field of rights, distribution and new platforms.”
