CBS Studios International (CBSSI) has inked a co-production agreement for the new Israeli drama District Y with creator and writer Leora Kamenetzky (Fauda, False Flag) and L. Benasuly Productions (Fauda, Hatufim).

District Y is being developed as a ten-part, returnable series that centers on a special police unit in Jaffa, Israel, the southern tip of Tel Aviv where Jews and Arabs live together as the city undergoes an accelerated gentrification. When a 17-year-old Jewish girl is murdered, the local police precinct finds itself under pressure to establish a special task force charged with investigating both the murder and a notorious Arab crime family responsible for the street war in Jaffa.

The drama is part of CBS’s first-look agreement with Alon Aranya’s Paper Plane Productions. This is the first non-English-language, international co-production agreement for CBSSI and also includes the worldwide distribution and international remake rights for the series. Israel’s public broadcasting corporation, Kan, has commissioned the development of the new series.
