CANNES: FremantleMedia International (FMI) has clinched three deals for the drama Capital, including a sale to the U.S.

Participant Media’s Pivot has picked up the series for the U.S. market, while Shaw will bring the show to Canada. BBC Worldwide licensed the title for Australia and New Zealand.

Produced by Kudos for BBC One in the U.K., the three-part series is an adaptation of the best-selling novel by John Lanchester. The story follows the interconnected lives of a diverse group of Londoners who all reside on the same suburban street.

Jens Richter, CEO of FremantleMedia International, said: “Capital is a powerful, intelligent and character-driven drama created by one of the most prolific production companies in the world. These impressive deals are a testament to the series’ ability to capture modern society in a way that’s current and universally relevant to a global audience.”
