Canneseries Unveils 2022 Awards Winners

The winners of the fifth annual Canneseries were revealed during the closing ceremony on April 6, with the Israeli series The Lesson (Sh’at Efes) scoring top honors.

Created and written by Deakla Keydar and directed by Eitan Zur, The Lesson earned the top prize with the Best Series award. Maya Landsmann took home the Best Performance award for her role in the show as well.

The Canadian series Audrey’s Back (Audrey Est Revenue), created and written by Guillaume Lambert and Florence Longpré and directed by Lambert, took home the Dior Grand Award. It also earned the Special Interpretation Award.

Best Screenplay, meanwhile, went to the German series Souls, created by Alex Eslam. Written by Eslam, Lisa Van Brakel, Senad Halilbasic and Erol Yesilkaya, the show was directed by Eslam and Hanna Maria Heidrich.

Hacked, a Belgian series created by Anthony Van Biervliet and Ruben Vandenborre, won Best Short Form Series. It was written by Laura Van Haecke and Una Kres, with Van Haecke also directing.

Rosalie Vaillancourt took home the Dior Revelation Award for her role in the short-form series Complètement Lycée.

The High School Award for Best Series went to Afterglow (Etterglød), a Norwegian program created by Atle Knudsen and Kjetil Indregard. Indregard and Mads Løken wrote the series, and Knudsen directed.

The Student Award for Best Short Form Series went to another Norwegian production: Everything You Love. Created and written by Marie Hafting, it was directed by Stian Kristiansen.

The Long Form Competition jury was comprised of creator and screenwriter Fanny Herrero; actress Anne Marivin; actor, producer and screenwriter Ólafur Darri Ólafsson; composer Daniel Pemberton; actor Denis O’Hare; and actor Sami Outalbali.

The Short Form Competition jury consisted of writer and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz; actor, director and composer Marc Ruchmann; and actor Chinenye Ezeudu.
