CANAL+ France Acquires Oxygen Masks Will Not Drop Automatically

CANAL+ France has acquired the rights to the five-part HBO drama Oxygen Masks Will Not Drop Automatically.

Produced by Morena Filmes and Warner Bros. Discovery, the series follows a group of flight attendants who smuggle AZT from New York to Rio de Janeiro to save the lives of HIV-positive patients. It is set to air on Hello CANAL+ later this year.

The show won the Cinema Jove Luna de Valencia—Best Series award at Berlinale in 2025 and was nominated for Best Miniseries or Limited Series at the Rose d’Or Latino.

Oxygen Masks Will Not Drop Automatically is represented internationally by Luckymatrix/ProduThing. It is set to debut on HBO Max in Latin America at the end of the summer.

“This series has been a labor of love,” said Thiago Pimentel, producer for Morena Films. “We feel blessed to have had the full force and passion of the cast, the technical team and directors, alongside the wonderful scripts by Patricia Corso and Leonardo Moreira.”

Phil Ox, sales agent at Luckymatrix/ProduThing, added, “We thank the CANAL+ team for helping us find one of the most perfect homes for Oxygen Masks Will Not Drop Automatically, and we are pleased to see broadcasters and platforms across Europe and the world embracing this quintessential story of love, struggle and persistence against prejudice, ignorance and inaction. It feels remarkably topical at this time.”
