TOKYO: Pay-TV broadcaster WOWOW has picked up exclusive Japanese broadcast rights for Warner Bros. International Television’s drama series Blindspot.

Blindspot will premiere in Japan on WOWOW in May 2016. The action-thriller series was also recently renewed by NBC for a sophomore season in the U.S., weeks after receiving a full-season order from the network. The show is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

The series stars Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of An Empire, Gangster Squad, Animal Kingdom) and Jaimie Alexander (Thor films, The Last Stand) and follows an FBI agent who is drawn into a conspiracy when a woman with amnesia whose body is covered in tattoos is discovered in Times Square.

This marks WOWOW’s third acquisition from a Hollywood studio in the last two months, following the pickups of Sony’s The Player and CBS’s Zoo.
