BlackBox Multimedia Options Bad Tourists Novel

BlackBox Multimedia has optioned Caro Carver’s upcoming psychological thriller novel Bad Tourists for a TV adaptation.

The novel, set to release in July this year, follows three women as they embark on what they think will be the holiday of a lifetime in the Maldives. Intertwined by their tragic past, they end up desperately searching for justice on the remote, exotic island.

Bad Tourists is being released by Transworld in the U.K. and Avid Reader Press in the U.S. in July. It will also be published in Danish and German, with more translations to come.

Script writers and casting are set to be revealed later this year.

“There are so many layers to Caro’s writing and the protagonists of her story, which makes Bad Tourists ripe for TV adaptation,” said Giuliano Papadia, CEO and creative director of BlackBox Multimedia. “With relatable but complex female leads, Caro brilliantly subverts our expectations with sudden twists and turns weaved throughout the narrative. And what better escapism to look forward to in the middle of winter than this scorching thriller!”

Carver added, “I am thrilled to be working with the team at BlackBox and am beyond excited to see how they bring Bad Tourists to the screen.”
