BBC Previews 2019 Drama Slate

BBC has shared a look at some of the “standout unmissable drama” coming to its channels in 2019, including the return of Luther, Call the Midwife and Silent Witness.

Created and written by Heidi Thomas, Call the Midwife returned to BBC One with a Christmas special in December. The eighth season debuts this month.

The writers of The Missing have the new drama Baptiste, starring Tchéky Karyo and Tom Hollander, and Suranne Jones will star in Gentleman Jack.

Line of Duty returns, with Stephen Graham as the new guest lead, and Peaky Blinders moves to BBC One.

Tana French’s best-selling Dublin Murder Squad novels are being brought to the small screen in Dublin Murders. Emma Thompson leads the cast of the new drama Years & Years. Richard Gere will star alongside Helen McCrory and Billy Howle in the political and psychological thriller MotherFatherSon. Meanwhile, Babou Ceesay and Jill Halfpenny lead the cast of Dark Mon£y.

Also, Gold Digger will tell the story of a wealthy 60-year old woman falling in love with a man 26 years her junior, and Holby City celebrates its 20th anniversary. Further BBC drama highlights include an adaptation of acclaimed young adult novel Noughts and Crosses; Trigonometry, a love story about three people who are made for each other; the fifth and final season of Poldark; and Killing Eve returns for a second season.
