Banijay Rights has licensed the Swedish crime thriller Bäckström to AMC Networks in the U.K., Canada and U.S. for its Acorn TV streaming service.

The crime drama series centers on detective Evert Backstrom, a man famous for having solved 99 percent of all cases he has taken on. Season one is based on Leif GW Persson’s novel Can You Die Twice?, and a second season has now been commissioned, to be based on the novel The Sword of Justice.

Bäckström premieres on February 8 in the U.K. and will be available to North American audiences later this spring.
