All3Media International has closed a raft of deals for the Paramount+ U.K. original drama The Ex-Wife in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

Based on Jess Ryder’s book of the same name, the show tells the story of a woman whose entire life is turned upside down when her husband’s ex-wife refuses to leave them alone. It is co-produced by Night Train Media, Clapperboard Studios and BlackBox Multimedia.

In Europe, The Ex-Wife has been acquired by TV4 (Sweden), MTV OY (Finland), NPO (the Netherlands), Stöð 2 (Iceland), Virgin (Ireland) and Eitb Media (Basque-region Spain). Pickbox signed a multi-territory deal covering rights to the series in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. The series will also air on Paramount+ in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

In addition, OSN in the Middle East, TVNZ in New Zealand and Paramount+ in Australia picked up the series. CBC acquired it for English-speaking Canada, while Radio-Canada for French-speaking Canada.

The four-part drama debuted on Paramount+ in the U.K. last year and, following deals made by All3Media International, launched in the U.S. on BritBox this month.

The Ex-Wife screenplay was written by Downton Abbey star Catherine Steadman, and the series itself was directed by Brian O’Malley (The Lodgers, That Dirty Black Bag).

“We’re delighted to see this high-end psychological thriller acquired by such a wide range of broadcasters,” said Maartje Horchner, executive VP of content at All3Media International. “Created by an incredibly talented team, all experts in developing premium, stand-out series for a global audience, The Ex-Wife is a gripping adaptation of Jess Ryder’s original novel, which has been skillfully brought to life on screen by an acclaimed cast. As what starts out as a seemingly perfect love story transforms into a tense thriller, we know the drama’s many twists and turns will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.”
