Alexis Bledel Returning for Season Two of The Handmaid’s Tale

Hulu has confirmed that Alexis Bledel will return for the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Bledel starred in season one as a guest star and will now reprise her role but as a series regular. The 13-episode second season is scheduled to go back into production this fall and is set for a 2018 premiere.

The drama is based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood. It tells the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States. Gilead, facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, is ruled by a twisted fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state.
