A+E Showcasing Blue Book, Scores New Scripted Sales

A+E Networks will be introducing the new A+E Studios drama Blue Book at MIPCOM and has landed a number of additional sales for such scripted series as SIX, Knightfall and Roots.

Blue Book comes from Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Back to the Future trilogy). The series is about the Air Forces’ 1952-1970 real-life investigation into the UFO phenomenon. It is billed as “the origin story of everything we know about UFOs today.”

Patrick Vien, the executive managing director of international at A+E Networks, said, “Blue Book represents A+E Networks’ latest investment in premium scripted content through our own A+E Studios. It is yet another example of our commitment to build long-term relationships with top creative talent and deliver programming that resonates with viewers.”

Additionally, the military action drama SIX has been sold to another broadcaster in Spain, to follow the series’ run on HBO (Spain), CEE (Poland), Starz Play (Middle East), and TMG (Germany), which sold the series to RTL2 (Germany) and Amazon (Germany). Knightfall, which chronicles the mysterious but true accounts of the Knights Templar, was recently sold in the Nordics and CEE. Roots has new broadcasters coming on board, including iQiyi and BesTV (China), THC (U.K.), TV Globo (Brazil), Showmax SVOD (Africa), Nitro and Neox (Spain), HBO (Andorra), Kavosh Television and Manoto TV (Persia), FilmBox Premium (pan-CEE), Channel 4 (Ecuador) and RCN (Colombia).
