Acorn TV Sets U.S. Premiere for Deep Water

SILVER SPRING: RLJ Entertainment’s Acorn TV has scheduled a November lineup that features the U.S. premiere of the Aussie series Deep Water, as well as the return of A Place to Call Home and Raised by Wolves, among other titles.

Deep Water is a four-part Australian crime drama slated to make its exclusive U.S. premiere on Acorn TV on November 7. It follows Detectives Tori Lustigman and Nick Manning, who are assigned a brutal murder case in Bondi. The series stars Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones, And Then There Were None), Yael Stone (Orange Is the New Black), Danielle Cormack (Wentworth) and Dan Spielman (The Code).

The British comedy Raised by Wolves is due to return to Acorn TV for a six-episode second season on November 21. The series is inspired by the childhood of best-selling author Caitlin Moran. The show follows six socially isolated, home-schooled siblings and their acerbic single mom. Another returning series is A Place to Call Home. The show will make its season-four debut in the U.S. on November 24. The period drama is set against the backdrop of post-World War II Australia and tells the story of a nurse who becomes involved in the affairs of the wealthy Bligh family.

In October, Acorn TV will premiere the new British dramedy Brief Encounters. It will also present the return of Aussie political thriller The Code for a second season. In addition, the Canadian cop drama 19-2 will return for a third season.

Mark Stevens, the president of Acorn Brands at RLJ Entertainment, said, “Our subscribers constantly rave about A Place to Call Home and [series lead] Marta Dusseldorp, so we will exclusively feature the latest season of this addictive drama. Additionally, we’re delighted to feature the return of Caitlin Moran’s universally acclaimed Raised by Wolves, which offers a very frank and funny take on growing up in a big, dysfunctional family. Our November slate starts off with another great series out of Australia with true-crime drama Deep Water featuring Yael Stone and Noah Taylor.”
