Amazon Sets Fifth & Final Season of Ripper Street

LONDON: Filming has started on what will be the fifth and final season of the crime drama Ripper Street, ahead of its exclusive release on Amazon’s Prime Video later this year.

All four previous seasons are available for unlimited streaming and download for Prime members. For season five, which is shooting in Dublin, Joseph Mawle (In the Heart of the Sea) rejoins the series as the feared Detective Inspector Jedediah Shine.

Amazon had stepped in to save Ripper Street in early 2014, following outcry from fans when the show was canceled after two seasons. The original Tiger Aspect production team was commissioned by Amazon to create a brand-new season, which launched exclusively for Prime members in the U.K. in November 2014. Series four launched exclusively for Prime Members in the U.K. in January 2016.
