FOX Goes for Season Two of Wayward Pines

LOS ANGELES: FOX has renewed the psychological thriller Wayward Pines from executive producer M. Night Shyamalan for a sophomore season, set to air next summer.

Ten brand-new episodes of the drama will pick up where season one left off, when a new arrival in Wayward Pines finds himself in the midst of a battle over how to preserve the endangered human race. The first season of Wayward Pines, starring Matt Dillon, was the number-one broadcast scripted series among adults 18 to 49 last summer. The show is based on Blake Crouch's international best-selling book series.

"Wayward Pines was a huge hit for us this past summer," said David Madden, the president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company. "We were absolutely blown away by the mysterious and surprising world that Night and his team created, and the twisting-and-turning storytelling that drew viewers in from day one. Season two is going to take the suspense, the vision of the future and the haunting character drama to whole new levels, and we can't wait for our fans to continue that ride next year."

Wayward Pines is a production of 20th Century Fox Television. It is executive produced by Donald De Line (Green Lantern, The Italian Job), Ashwin Rajan (Devil, The Visit), Mark Friedman (Believe, The Forgotten), Crouch and Shyamalan.
