UCP Lands Rights to Wisecrack Screen Adaptation

UCP, part of Universal Studio Group, has landed the rights to adapt the podcast Wisecrack as a scripted series.

Eli Jorné (Severance, The Walking Dead: Dead City) will adapt Wisecrack for TV and serve as an executive producer.

Additional executive producers include Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat (The Act, Apple TV’s upcoming Cape Fear); Donald Albright and Payne Lindsey for Tenderfoot TV; Conal Byrne and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartMedia; and Jodi Tovay and Charles Forbes for Starwipe Productions.

Tenderfoot TV and iHeartPodcasts are behind the podcast. Tovay produced it.

The podcast tells the true story of comedian Edd Hedges, who returns to his hometown to headline a charity gig. His homecoming is disrupted when a murderer begins to take lives hours after his comedy set.
