ZDF Studios & Ananey Team for The Tea House on the Death Pass

ZDF Studios has partnered with Paramount’s Ananey Studios to co-produce a multi-season adaptation of Daniel Edelson’s novel The Tea House on the Death Pass.

Based on actual events that took place on October 14, 2014, in Nepal’s Himalayan Mountains, the show will see one of the most breathtaking hiking trails in the world turn into a death trap, stranding hundreds of hikers and families from around the world in a snowstorm. Moral dilemmas tear at them, but moments of heroism and humanity give rise to inspiring rescue efforts.

The creators of the adaptation are Ron Leshem (Euphoria), Amit Cohen (No Man’s Land, Valley of Tears, Beaufort) and Edelson. Edelson wrote the novel based on his experience. covering the avalanche in Nepal in 2024.

Ananey Studios and ZDF Studios will co-produce the series, and ZDF Studios will distribute it internationally.
