Bad Wolf Preps The Winter King

Bad Wolf, which was acquired by Sony Pictures Television at the end of last year, is set to produce the historical drama The Winter King.

Based on Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles, the ten-part epic will portray a revisionist take on the Arthurian legends, following Arthur Pendragon as he evolves from an outcast son to a warrior and leader in the 5th century. The Winter King will shoot in Wales and the West Country in 2022.

Kate Brooke (A Discovery of Witches, Bancroft) and Ed Whitmore (Manhunt, Rillington Place) are adapting Warlord Chronicles for the series, with Otto Bathurst (His Dark Materials, Halo) serving as the lead director.

The Winter King is being produced by Bad Wolf, in association with One Big Picture. Sony Pictures Television is handling international distribution.
