HBO has renewed the Spanish drama series 30 Coins for a second season, which is set to begin shooting this month.

In season two, as most of the people in Pedraza are confined to a psychiatric hospital, horror grows around them and a new enemy, someone so perverse that even the devil fears him, appears.

The series is directed by Álex de la Iglesia, who also co-writes with Jorge Guerricaechevarría. Production services for the second season of 30 Coins are provided by Anciana Milenaria, a Pokeepsie Films company. Executive producers are Steve Matthews, Miguel Salvat and Antony Root for HBO Max and de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang for Pokeepsie Films.

30 Coins is slated to return to screens in 2023, debuting on HBO in the U.S. and streaming on HBO Max worldwide.

“If the first season was the gathering of the storm clouds, the second will be the maelstrom preceding an epic storm,” said de la Iglesia. “The characters are involved in a hellish plot, where death and resurrection are two sides of the same coin.”
