AMC Networks has licensed the rights for the six-part thriller Spy City to launch the series in the U.S. on its streaming service AMC+ on April 15.

The story takes place in 1961 in Berlin, a city divided into four sectors and run by four armies—Russian, French, American and British. There is no wall yet, so free passage exists between East and West. Along with four foreign armies are four foreign security organizations: the KGB, the SDECE, the CIA and MI6. Berlin is a city of spies—and traitors.

Spy City is produced by Leonine Studios’ production banner Odeon Fiction and Miramax TV. ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group handles global sales. The series was co-produced by German public broadcaster ZDF, Seven Stories and Wilma Film, in association with Magenta TV and funded by FFF Bayern, Nordmedia, German Motion Picture Fund, Czech Film Fund and co-financed and executive produced by Miramax. It will make its free-TV premiere in Germany on ZDF this fall.
