Doctor Doctor Renewed by Nine

Doctor Doctor (a.k.a. The Heart Guy), produced by Easy Tiger Productions for Australia’s Nine, has been commissioned for a fifth season.

The show is based on an original idea by Tony McNamara (The Favourite, The Great) and Ian Collie (Rake, Jack Irish). Production dates have yet to be set, but the current season will return to Nine on April 22.

Easy Tiger’s Ian Collie said: “In a time of great uncertainty and anxiety, the news that our feelgood drama Doctor Doctor a.k.a. The Heart Guy was to be commissioned for a fifth season was a cause for great celebration by cast, crew and all the fans of the show. Virtual champagne glasses were clinked all round! This new season will bring out the hope in Whyhope.”

Andy Ryan, Nine’s co-head of drama, said, “We are thrilled to commission a fifth season of Australia’s favorite drama series Doctor Doctor.

“With its stellar cast and beautiful rural setting, viewers of all ages have fallen in love with the misadventures of Dr. Hugh Knight and his marvelously dysfunctional family. We are really proud to be able to support the creative team behind Doctor Doctor for another season.”
