Super Channel Slates Second Season of Deep State

The espionage drama series Deep State is returning to Super Channel in Canada for a second season.

Deep State’s season two, which adds Walton Goggins to the cast, delves deeper into the murky and political world of the titular deep state, with attention now turned to sub-Saharan Africa. The new season of Deep State will premiere on Super Channel on Sunday, August 25. Each of its eight episodes will also become available to subscribers on Super Channel On Demand the day following the series’ weekly linear broadcast.

Returning to the cast are Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones, Skins), Karima McAdams (FearlessVikings), Alistair Petrie (Sex EducationThe Night Manager) and Anastasia Griffith (Damages, Once Upon a Time). In addition to Goggins, new cast members include Victoria Hamilton (The CrownDoctor Foster), Alexander Siddig (The Spy, Gotham), Lily Banda (The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind) and Zainab Jah (Elementary, Homeland).

Matthew Parkhill is executive producer, co-creator, writer, director and showrunner of Deep State, with Hilary Bevan Jones as executive producer. Simon Maxwell is co-creator, writer and executive producer. Director Joss Agnew and BAFTA Award-winning producer Paul Frift both joined the Deep State team for the second season.
