French production company Incognita has picked up the rights to develop local versions of the Nippon TV drama series Mother and Woman–My Life for My Children–.

“This marks the first time that these formats will be created in Europe, and we are looking forward to watching our dramas gain a new life and presence in France,” said Atsushi Sogo, president of international business development for Nippon TV. “France is the Country of Honour at this year’s MIPTV, and I’m proud to announce this deal at this time. We can’t wait to see the French version, and the French viewers are in good hands with Incognita and their remarkable production quality. Of course, we will extend all our expertise in making it the best drama series for the French audience.”

Edouard de Vésinne, CEO of Incognita, added, “Both shows are emotional and suspenseful dramas led by strong female protagonists which explore the full range of human emotions and revolve around the universal themes of love, family and what it ultimately means to be a mother. We have found great partners in Nippon TV, and we can’t wait to treat French audiences with these extraordinary stories. We are actively working to adapt both shows for the French market, and we plan to shoot the first one in 2020.”

Mother has been adapted in Turkey and Korea. Woman–My Life for My Children– was also remade in Turkey.
