Production has begun on the new drama series After the Verdict, which is set to bow on 9Network in Australia.

After the Verdict follows four people who have just finished jury duty on a high-profile murder trial as they return to normal life. Questioning their verdict, the group of starkly different jurors decide to investigate the murder themselves. The six-part series is created, written and executive produced by Subtext Pictures’ Ellie Beaumont and Drew Proffitt (House Husbands, Dead Lucky).

Michelle Lim Davidson (The Newsreader) and Tess Haubrich (Wolf Creek) join the previously announced cast of Sullivan Stapleton (Blindspot, Animal Kingdom), Magda Szubanski (Kath & Kim, Babe), Lincoln Younes (Grand Hotel, Doctor Doctor), Virginia Gay (Judy and Punch), Emma Diaz (Diary of an Uber Driver), Richard Brancatisano (Harrow), Nicholas Brown (Wakefield), Hazem Shammas (Safe Harbour) and Vivienne Awosoga (Wentworth).

Entertainment One (eOne) is handling international sales. The series received major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Screen NSW.

Beaumont said: “We are excited to be working again with the 9Network to bring another original series to Australian screens. We look forward to collaborating with our super talented cast and creative team to tell the tale of four rogue jurors who go to entertaining extremes to uncover the truth.”

Proffitt added: “We thank Screen Australia for their ongoing support and are hugely grateful to Screen NSW for championing this project from its inception. We look forward to working with eOne to help take After the Verdict to the rest of the world.”
