TORONTO: 108 Media has acquired the exclusive worldwide distribution and packaging rights for the new horror anthology series Disturbia.

Created by Adam Phillips, the 6×1-hour series is set in various locations across Southeast Asia. The show takes viewers deep into suburban lives in a world where their darkest, deepest nightmares come true and psychological horror is made real. It is billed as a 21st-century take on The Twilight Zone and Hammer House of Horror.

Disturbia will be co-produced and developed by Bedlam Productions, makers of the Oscar-winning film The King’s Speech; Big Man Films and Singapore-based Make Entertainment.

Abhi Rastogi, CEO of 108 Media, said: “This series is thrilling, relevant and has universal appeal and we are very excited to be working with such an all-star team of companies and individuals to help bring Disturbia to life. With intensely human narratives which will resonate with audiences across the globe and an underlying message about technology’s dark side, Disturbia is a series which truly ticks all the boxes and we are looking forward to taking it worldwide.”

Nick North, the managing director of Make Entertainment, added: “We are excited to be working with 108, Bedlam and Big Man on a truly international horror anthology series. By setting each stand-alone episode in a different Asian city, Disturbia offers a unique and fresh approach that is perfectly suited to a concept that mines the universality of fears about modern life, while providing visually arresting environments for these unsettling urban nightmares to inhabit.”
