TV Globo International Goes “A-la-Carte” in Argentina

RIO DE
JANEIRO, September 20: Starting October 1, TV Globo International (TVGI) will
be distributed as an “a-la-carte” premium channel on DIRECTV in Argentina.

The switch to
premium status in Argentina comes after similar moves in Chile, Ecuador,
Colombia, Peru and Venezuela, and is part of TVGI’s repositioning strategy in
Latin America. In Argentina, after September 30, TVGI will no longer be
available via cable operators Cablevision and Multicanal. Approximately 35,000
Brazilians currently live in Argentina, making it the largest potential market
in South America for TVGI.

On the air 24
hours a day, via satellite and cable, TVGI is targeted at Brazilians and
Portuguese speakers around the world. Launched in 1999, it is already
distributed in 66 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Europe (except
Portugal), Japan, Australia, South Africa, Angola, Mexico, Chile, Colombia,
Panama, Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and others, reaching approximately
400,000 premium subscribers all over the world.
