TV Azteca, MGM Networks Partner on Thriller

CANNES: MGM Networks Latin America has inked a deal to air TV Azteca’s action series Drowning City (Drenaje Profundo), which is being represented worldwide by Comarex.
 
The MGM Channel is scheduled to premiere the show in prime time in Q1 2011 in Latin America, Brazil and Portugal, as well as in Mozambique, Angola and Guinea Bissau. "We are very excited that a channel like MGM trusted us on this show," Marcel Vinay, CEO of Comarex, told World Screen Newsflash. "it’s an action series, which is something different for us." The show, Vinay added, has received a "fantastic response" from buyers since its launch at MIPCOM this week. 

Based on an original idea by Benjamin Salinas and Roberto Gonzalez, the conspiracy thriller is set in Mexico City. It recently launched on Azteca 7 in Mexico and is airing in a Monday 10 p.m. slot.
