Tudors Sets Ratings Records for Showtime

TORONTO, April 6: According to Peace Arch Entertainment
Group, its new series The Tudors
generated record audiences for Showtime in the U.S. earlier this week, drawing
869,000 viewers on its debut outing, and 404,000 for its 11 p.m. encore airing,
becoming the premium network’s biggest premiere night in the past three years.

According to Showtime, more than one million sampled The
Tudors
either online or in other on-demand
formats.

The Tudors is a
co-production of Peace Arch and TM Productions. The ten-episode series is
represented for worldwide distribution by Sony Pictures Television
International, outside of North America. Peace Arch has licensed the Canadian
rights to CBC for broadcast this fall. Peace Arch Home Entertainment will
distribute the film on DVD in Canada.

The series tells the tale of King Henry VIII, focusing on
the early years of his 40-year reign. It stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the
infamous royal, along with Sam Neill, Henry Czerny, Jeremy Northam, Gabrielle
Anwar and Natalie Dormer. The Tudors was
created and written by Michael Hirst, whose work includes the Academy
Award-winning Elizabeth. The
series completed principal photography on location in Ireland in October.
Michael Hirst, Ben Silverman of Reveille and Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of
Working Title are the executive producers with Gary Howsam of Peace Arch
Entertainment Group and Morgan O'Sullivan of World 2000 producing.
