truTV Expands Asian Footprint

HONG KONG: Following its April launch on StarHub in Singapore, Turner Broadcasting’s truTV is set to roll out in the Philippines and Vietnam next month.

In the Philippines, Turner Entertainment has appointed Asian Cable Communications Inc (ACCION) as the truTV distributor to support nation-wide coverage of the channel, while in Vietnam truTV will premiere on VTC Multimedia Corporation’s new DTH service.

“truTV is gathering serious momentum in Asia and the response to the channel has been very encouraging," said Sunny Saha, senior VP and general manager of Turner Entertainment Networks Asia. "Operators are recognizing that there was a gap in TV entertainment, which truTV has been able to close with its un-staged and utterly compelling real-life programming. It’s a unique brand of entertainment with universal appeal across cities and provinces alike.”

The programming on the channel includes Surf & Rescue: Dewey Beach, about beach lifeguards during summer vacation season, World’s Wildest Vacation Videos, Speeders and Party Heat.
