Trouble to Launch User-Generated TV Series

LONDON, October 13:
Trouble, the Flextech-owned youth entertainment channel, has announced that it
will build upon its user-generated-content network Homegrown by launching its own
television show this November.

The series’ content will
be a fully user-generated, based entirely on material submitted to the existing
website, www.troublehomegrown.co.uk.
As part of the move, Trouble has appointed U.K. cross-platform production
company Somethin’ Else to develop and produce all TV and interactive elements
of the series.

The show’s content will be
decided by the viewers and will run as 26 x 30-minute episodes. The weekly show
will constantly evolve without any presenter or script, and is designed to
reflect the trends and passions of the Homegrown community.

“We are extremely excited
to be working with Somethin’ Else and to be one of the first to televise the
user-generated-content revolution,” said Celia Taylor, channel controller for
Trouble. “We are taking this opportunity to give the power back to the people
who generate this truly original content. In the six months since Homegrown
launched, it has had 100,000 unique visits, and over 6,000 uploads. Our
investment in this production gives us the opportunity to demonstrate how
user-generated-content can work in a linear broadcast format.”
