RESTON: In examining the impact of tablets, smartphones and connected devices on media consumption habits, comScore has found that television remains the primary medium for watching TV shows and movies.

comScore’s Digital Omnivores: How Tablets, Smartphones and Connected Devices are Changing U.S. Digital Media Consumption Habits report finds that 61 percent of tablet owners still typically view TV shows or movies on their television sets. Of respondents, 35 percent report viewing this content on their desktop or laptop computers. Only 15 percent of respondents say they typically watch TV shows or movies on their tablets. This figure is even less for mobile, which clocked in only 13 percent.

Among video viewing activities on the tablet, watching short video clips, such as those on YouTube, was the most popular activity, with 65 percent of consumers saying they’ve done so on their tablet in the last month. Nearly half watched on-demand TV shows, full-length movies and live broadcasts.
