Production Begins on Peace Arch’s Weapon

TORONTO, November 28:
Principal photography is underway in Hamilton, Ontario on Peace Arch
Entertainment’s new action film, Weapon, starring UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin.

Franklin will star
opposite Bruce Greenwood (I Robot,
Swept Away, Déjà Vu) and Tiffani Thiessen (She Fought Alone, Son in Law, Beverly Hills 90210).
Peace Arch will distribute the picture in Canada and act as worldwide sales
agent.

Weapon centers on a lonely U.S. border patrol agent,
played by Thiessen, who captures a genetically engineered super-soldier, played
by Franklin. The action begins as the soldier’s creator, played by Greenwood,
attempts to hunt them down. Based on a screenplay by John Flock and Christopher
Warre Smets, the film is produced by Joshua Gray and directed by John Stead.
Jacqueline Kelly, Barbara Sacks, Kate Harrison and Lewin Webb serve as the
film’s executive producers.

“Our representation of Weapon is consistent with Peace Arch's strategy of
building one of the largest independent film and television libraries in the
world through high-volume production and third-party acquisitions,” said
co-writer and Peace Arch Entertainment president and COO, John Flock. “We
expect Weapon to have
significant appeal in worldwide markets and generate sustainable revenues
through multiple distribution channels in nearly every major international
territory.”

This film joins the ranks
of Peace Arch’s current lineup, which includes the Showtime multi-Emmy
Award-winning mini-series The Tudors, the ensemble drama Winged Creatures and The Deal, a romantic comedy from the best-selling Peter Lefcourt novel.
