Top Chef Commissioned in Greece

LONDON: NBC Universal’s international formats unit has secured an agreement with Greek broadcaster Skai for the first local production of the hit Bravo food show Top Chef.

The order is for 18 one-hour episodes of the culinary competition series, which features a group of aspiring chefs battling it out in the kitchen. The show is a hit on Bravo in the U.S., and has been nominated for ten Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Reality Program. Top Chef, produced by Magical Elves, is currently airing in its sixth season.

Yvonne Pilkington, the VP of formats, said, "We are delighted with the first international production of Top Chef, and look forward to many more. The search to find the ‘Top Chef’ of tomorrow has become nothing less than a phenomenon in the U.S. and its international success looks set to continue."

Ioannis Alafouzos, the president and managing director for Skai, commented, “Top Chef U.S. has always been a phenomenal success for our channel and we are confident that Greek chefs will provide every bit as much drama as their U.S. counterparts.”
