Tigress Completes Work on Natural-History Doc

BRISTOL, June 12: Tigress
Productions has completed filming on a new high-definition natural-history
documentary for BBC Two and U.S. broadcaster WNET that follows the personal
story of a mountain gorilla called Titus.

Commissioned by Tim Martin
at the BBC and Fred Kaufman at WNET, Titus: The Gorilla King is executive-produced by Tigress’s Jeremy Bradshaw,
produced by Linda Bell and directed by David Allen. The one-hour doc is
scheduled to launch on BBC Two later this year in the Natural World series.

The story follows the life
of Titus, whose father was murdered by poachers in front of his eyes, while his
mother abandoned him just after. Researchers from the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund
and Rwanda’s Parks have followed his life over the last 30 years, and the
program watches him today, as a king who is being challenged by his second in
command.

Martin commented:
"This animal-biography approach is an innovative new format for a wildlife
film so I’m delighted to have it for the next series of Natural World. It's a very touching true story of a remarkable
silverback who has lived through what must be the most turbulent period of this
species' entire history."

Bradshaw added: “Titus’s
story is the 30-year biography of a legendary animal. His life is one,
initially, of unimaginable tragedy, but ultimately one of huge triumph.”
